Common issues
Troubleshooting
BlurCam isn't detecting a face I can clearly see
Detection works best when a face is reasonably sized in frame, facing roughly toward the camera, and in decent light. It can miss faces that are far away, turned to a strong profile or the back of the head, partly covered (masks, sunglasses, hair), or in low light. Try moving closer, improving lighting, or waiting for the person to turn more toward the camera — detection catches up within a frame or two once conditions improve. This is a best-effort system, not a guarantee; always review a clip before sharing it.
My recording stopped at 9 seconds
Recording now requires BlurCam Premium, and subscribed recordings have no time limit. The annual plan starts with a 3-day free trial. If your recordings still stop at 9 seconds, you are on an older version of the app: update BlurCam in the App Store.
I subscribed but BlurCam still asks me to subscribe
Open BlurCam, go to the paywall, and tap Restore Purchase. This re-checks your Apple Account for an active subscription. If it still doesn't unlock, check Settings › your Apple Account name › Subscriptions to confirm the purchase went through, then email us with your purchase date and we'll help sort it out.
Can I get a refund?
Refunds are issued by Apple, not by us directly — we don't have access to process them ourselves. Request one at reportaproblem.apple.com or via Settings › your Apple Account name › Subscriptions on your iPhone.
The app can't access my camera or microphone
Check Settings › BlurCam on your iPhone and make sure Camera and Microphone are turned on. If you denied access when first asked, BlurCam shows a screen with a direct link to Settings to fix it — recording won't work without camera access, though the rest of the app remains usable if only the microphone is off (recordings will be silent).
Videos aren't saving to my Photos library
BlurCam needs "Add Photos Only" permission to save recordings — check Settings › BlurCam › Photos. If storage on your iPhone is low, BlurCam will stop recording and save what it has once free space drops below about 150 MB, and won't start a new recording below about 500 MB free. Free up space and try again.
How do I delete a recording?
BlurCam saves directly to your Photos library and doesn't keep a separate copy — delete it from the Photos app the same way you'd delete any video. BlurCam itself can't read or manage your existing library.
Still stuck?
Send us a note and we'll reply as soon as we can — mention your iPhone model and iOS version if it's a bug, that speeds things up.
