Privacy Policy
Last updated August 8, 2026
The short version: your photos and videos never leave your iPhone. BlurCam is a camera that blurs faces while you record. This page explains, plainly, what happens to your data.
Your photos, videos and audio
They stay on your device. Recording, face detection, blurring, voice styling and saving all happen on your iPhone. Your footage is never uploaded, never sent to us, and never sent to anyone else. We could not look at it if we wanted to — there is nowhere for it to go.
You can verify this yourself: put your iPhone in airplane mode. Every part of the camera keeps working. You can also check Settings › Privacy & Security › App Privacy Report on your iPhone, which lists every network domain an app contacts.
Face detection is not face recognition. BlurCam locates faces so it can cover them. It does not identify anyone, does not match faces against any database, and does not create or store face templates, embeddings, or any other biometric data. Nothing about a face is kept after the frame it appeared in.
When you save, your recording goes to your own Photos library. From that point your iPhone's own settings apply — if you use iCloud Photos, your video will sync to iCloud like any other video you take. That is Apple's service and your account, not ours.
Permissions we ask for
| Permission | Why | What we cannot do |
|---|---|---|
| Camera | To show the viewfinder and record | — |
| Microphone | To record audio with your video | — |
| Photos (add only) | To save your recordings | We cannot read your existing photos. BlurCam only ever adds. |
We never ask for location, contacts, calendar, health data, or your photo library's contents. BlurCam does not require an account, and there is nothing to sign up for.
Purchases
BlurCam offers optional paid subscriptions. Purchases are handled by Apple and by RevenueCat, which records what you have bought so it can be restored on your other devices and after reinstalling.
For a purchase, RevenueCat receives: the product you bought, the transaction from Apple, an anonymous identifier for your installation, and basic device information such as iPhone model and iOS version.
Apple's own handling of your purchase is covered by Apple's privacy policy.
If you never make a purchase, BlurCam still checks with Apple and RevenueCat whether you have an active subscription. That check contains no personal information beyond the anonymous identifier above.
What we collect
No analytics. No advertising. No tracking. No third-party SDKs other than the purchases service described above. We do not collect usage statistics, crash reports, device identifiers for advertising, or any profile of you. We do not know how often you use BlurCam, what you record, or whether you use it at all.
We do not sell data, because we do not have any to sell.
Children
BlurCam does not collect personal information from anyone, including children.
Your rights
Because we hold no personal data about you beyond what's described above under Purchases, there is little for us to show you, correct, or delete on request — but you're welcome to ask, at the contact below. Deleting the app removes everything BlurCam stored on your device. Recordings you already saved remain in your Photos library, under your control.
To manage or cancel a subscription, use Settings › your Apple Account name › Subscriptions on your iPhone.
Important limitation
Blurring is automatic and best-effort. BlurCam blurs the faces it detects. A face it does not detect — turned away, partly hidden, very small in frame, in poor light, or moving fast — will not be blurred. BlurCam reduces the chance that someone is identifiable; it is not a guarantee of anonymity, and people can still be recognisable from clothing, voice, surroundings or context.
Always review a video before you share it.
Changes to this policy
If this policy changes, the date at the top changes with it. If we ever begin collecting anything beyond what's described here, we will say so on this page and in the app before it happens.
