Recording, blurring and saving all happen on your iPhone

Blur faces.
Live.

BlurCam blurs every face it finds the instant you record, not in an editing step afterward. Press record, press stop, the video is already blurred.

Why BlurCam

The camera you already know, with one thing added

Video, Photo, Slo-mo and Time-lapse. Zoom, tap to focus, torch, front and rear cameras. it should feel like your iPhone camera, because it is one.

Blurred as you record

No export queue, no processing step. The frame that gets saved is already blurred. What you see in the viewfinder is what's in the file.

🔒

Nothing leaves your iPhone

Recording, face detection and blurring all run on-device. There's no cloud, no server, and no account. you can verify it yourself in airplane mode.

🎭

9 ways to hide a face

Soft Blur, Pixel, Mosaic, Motion Blur, Black Mask, Gaussian, Frosted Glass, Gradient and Emoji covers. Strength scales with each face automatically.

🗣️

Voice styles

Change how a voice sounds while you record: Original, Anonymous, Podcast or Robot. Applied live and saved into the video.

👤

Detection, not recognition

BlurCam locates faces to cover them. It never identifies anyone, never matches faces against anything, and never stores face data.

📤

Straight to Photos

Stop recording and it's already in your library, blurred, ready to share. BlurCam can only add to your library. It can't read what's already there.

The Choose Blur screen listing nine blur styles: Soft Blur, Pixel Blur, Mosaic, Motion Blur, Black Mask, Gaussian, Frosted Glass, Gradient Blur and Emoji

Pick a style, adjust the strength

Every face in frame is covered the moment it's detected. near or far. Strength scales per face, so someone across the street is hidden as thoroughly as someone right in front of the lens.

  • 9 blur styles, from a soft natural blur to a fully opaque mask
  • Emoji face covers for a lighter touch
  • Strength adjusts live, in the viewfinder, before you record
The Protect screen: Faces blurring is on by default. A list of things not yet built. license plates, documents, screens, tattoos, logos, QR codes, house numbers.

Honest about what it does. and doesn't. do yet

Face blurring is on by default, every time BlurCam opens. Anything we haven't built yet is labelled "Not yet," not shown as a toggle that quietly does nothing.

  • Detection is best-effort. a face that's turned away, tiny, or in poor light may be missed
  • The record button turns red the moment blur is switched off, so the risk is visible before you commit
  • Always review a clip before you share it

Verify it yourself. put your iPhone in airplane mode

Recording, face detection, blurring and saving to Photos all happen without a network connection. There's nothing to disable, because there's nothing to disable it from.

Questions

Frequently asked

Does any of my video or audio get uploaded anywhere?
Never. Recording, face detection, blurring and saving all happen on your iPhone. BlurCam has no server for your footage, and the media pipeline is built so it cannot make network calls. Put your phone in airplane mode and everything still works.
Is this face recognition?
No. BlurCam only detects that a face is present, so it knows where to draw the blur. It never identifies who someone is, never compares faces against a database, and never stores any biometric data. Nothing about a face survives past the frame it appeared in.
Will it catch every face, every time?
No. and we'd rather say that plainly than oversell it. Detection is best-effort: a face that's turned far away, very small in frame, in poor light, or moving quickly can be missed. BlurCam makes people harder to identify; it isn't a guarantee of anonymity. Always review a recording before you share it.
Do I need an account?
No. There's no sign-up, no login, and no account of any kind. including for Premium. Your subscription is tied to your Apple Account through the App Store, the same as any other app purchase.
What does Premium actually change?
Recording requires BlurCam Premium. The annual plan starts with a 3-day free trial, and exploring the app, the live preview and every blur style is free. Premium unlocks unlimited recording, all blur and voice styles, slo-mo, time-lapse, and up to 4K at 60 fps. Blurring strength is never limited.
What does BlurCam collect about me?
Nothing about your photos, videos, audio, camera or microphone use. that data never leaves your device. If you subscribe, Apple and RevenueCat (our subscription platform) process the purchase itself: which plan you bought and an anonymous device identifier, so it can be restored on your other devices. See the Privacy Policy for the exact detail.
How do I cancel or restore a subscription?
Manage or cancel anytime in Settings › your Apple Account name › Subscriptions on your iPhone. To restore a previous purchase on a new device, open BlurCam's paywall and tap Restore Purchase.
